KEVIN SCOTT
BASS


Kevin J Scott is a bassist/songwriter in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. He plays  4, 5 & 6 string basses--fretted & fretless; and also plays upright bass.  Kevin played bass for former Tower of Power singer Lenny Williams for over 22 years. He also plays for Beebe Memorial Cathedral CME church in Oakland, CA for about 8 years, R&B Hip Hop group Fiveten featuring Jammin’ Jay Lamont, Project4band, Kymberly Jackson, Destiny Christian Fellowship in Fremont, CA and basically whomever he can get a gig with. 

Kevin also had the pleasure of playing for groups and artists including the Delfonics, the Temprees, Snoop Dogg, Ali Woodson and others. He also had the pleasure of being on the same bill with acts like the Dramatics, the Whispers, Cameo, Stephanie Mills, the Tony Rich Project, George Benson, Aretha Franklin, Ray Goodman & Brown, the Manhattans, Boney James, Con Funk Shun, Al Green, Lakeside, Rick James, Bobby Womack, Howard Hewett, Glenn Jones, The Time, Rose Royce, MC Lyte, Teddy Pendergrass, Heatwave, Kelly Price, Frankie Beverly and Maze as well as many more.  Kevin has recorded on a number of projects over the years for Lenny Williams, Dru Down, Sylvester Burks, Fiveten, Don Turney and other fine recording artist and musicians.  Kevin also had a solo CD out in 1998 called “Play That Bass Kev” and he’s currently working on a CD called “Let Go” due out in late 2015.  Kevin learned the electric bass at Bob's guitar studio in San Leandro, CA and studied double bass under double bassist Rob Fisher in Berkeley, CA. Kevin also studied jazz improv at the college of Alameda under Bill Bell in Alameda, CA.  Kevin also was the Bassist for the award winning choir Castlemont Castleers in the early 80's and the Castlemont jazz band under the direction of Phil Reeder and Gregory Cole.
